We are Dorks on Decks
We are a skatecrew from Amsterdam, for skaters (she / her / they / them) of 30 years and older.
We skate with each other, learn from each other and cheer for each other.
Skills are not important.
How it started…
Dorks on Decks was formed in 2020, when a few women that met at an adult skate class wanted to skate more together, in addition to the organized lessons. But where to start, when you are an ultra beginner? How to find the convidence to take your skateboard to a public space and practice simple tic-tacs and ollies? We decided to meet up outside, in the open air, to skate with each other. It was a powerful decision! We skated together, cheered for each other, learned together. More and more people found our group, that we decided to name ‘Dorks on Decks’.
During our meet-ups there where pigeons everywhere. In the skatepark, on the sidewalks, in the park. They didn’t seem to bother us and stayed right where they were. Speaking of proudly taking space!
These confident creatures had to be our spirit animal! Our logo was born…
We often skate together. But we are not a skateboard club. We don’t ask for money. We don’t even ask for commitment. Do you want to meet-up?
